The VU+ Solo2 has a polished sleak look to it. With it’s Powerful 1.3GHz MIPS based CPU, 1GB DDR3 DRAM, Gigabit LAN and many other features, it makes it the ultimate box to have as part of your entertainment system. The qulaity, speed and reliability blows other manufacturers away. This box also has the capability of installing an internal 2.5″ hard drive, for all your recording needs.

I have recently tried and tested other boxes, like the Wetek, Venton HDE and Zgemma H.2S, but the VU+ Solo2 takes enigma into a totally different league.

REMOTE CONTROL

VU seem to have the same theme going on with the remote, a polished look. The look and feel of the remote you can sum up in one word ‘QUALITY’, the buttons are very responsive and when pressed indicates the TV button with a red LED. It took me a while to get used to it and especially to find recorded programs but I eventually got there, the button to the right of the MENU buttom takes you into your recorded program guide.

This remote can also be programmed up to operate your TV, so bye bye TV remote, an all in one solution that even the wife can work.

VU+ iPHONE APPLICATION

There are many, many apps out there, that will allow you to view the channels from your Enigma device on a mobile or tablet, but NONE have there own app. VU+ has created an app especially for your device, with a little bit of port forwarding, you can also view the channels when your out and about. Features are listed below for Apple products.

WORKING PRODUCT

After testing many devices in the past, the VU+ Solo2 has got to be hands down the fastest box i’ve worked with to-date. With a boot up time of less then 20 seconds, a GUI refresh at 5 seconds, and instant play of IPTV, this certainly will take some beating. The sylish LED display as shown in the picture shows what channel is being viewed, whilst on the picture next to it shows that it can do PIP/PAP (Picture-in-picture/Picture-against-picture). This receiver is capable of viewing 2 HD channels via PIP/PAP, where lower ranger models can’t.

Below you will find a demonstration video on how the VU+ responds to channel change, IPTV playback, Dreamplex and Full Kodi………..Yes you heard, this box is also capable of running a full kodi platform and it runs smooth as silk.

Exciting new developments within the KodiCommunity with the release of the KodiCommunity Android App. At the minute the app is for Android, hopefully IOS will follow.

Now I think this is a great addition to the community as it has everything you could possibly need to get all the latest information from within the ever expanding knowledge base that has built up considerably over the last year.

The App incorporates Twitter and Facebook social media from the  community, it also picks up the KodiCommunity website with all the great Reviews, How To’s and Blogs on anything Kodi.

As you can see from the below Screenshot you have 4 Tabs across the top when you open up the App.

KodiCommunity tab shows you all the latest blogs that have been created on the website, hopefully including this one. Click on a link and it will open up within the app.

Loads quickly and in mobile format, which makes it far easier to read on your mobile.

Select a tweet and it will give you the option to log in and open in the twitter app.

Facebook is covered with the Facebook Page tab.

The Blog tab does not appear to have any content currently, but will do at some point.

As you can see a super addition to the KodiCommunity.

To install download the apk from here. You will need to select download once you have clicked on the link. Then install the apk file and good to go.

In order to install you will need to select Unknown Sources as shown below. You can find this in Settings – Lock Screen and Security (This may vary depending on what device you own). This will allow you to install apps from sources other than the Play Store.

Locate on your mobile and select then select install.

How to install renegades TV guide

The add-on has been locked to its source so it will only work if

is found in the file manager, otherwise it will remove itself, to ensure only the most current version is available to download.

This addon is a must have for your kodi setup.

For this to work to its full potential there are a few addons that you will need to install meta, metalliq, super favourites.  If you have not installed meta or metalliq i would get them installed and follow our guides on how to use then as they will play a key role in the all new renegades.  Also there are addons that will be used for streams (as well as the ones recommended in our meta tutorial) so it may be best to get them installed aswell. They are njm soccer, football repeat, money sports, zem tv,   youtube,  adrian sports, DC sports, vidtime, castaway, ccloud, channel pear uktvnow, ftv, itv player.

Below is a guide that should work but we have set up an alternative guide with players we have tested and work as of 31/08/16 so feel free to check it out. Follow the guide below to install meta and I will link to another page at the appropriate time to use our method that we have spent a couple of days taking out players and trying to get it set up so everything works as best as possible.

This is a addon that hunts through your local library, and addons that are set up, to find a stream based on information grabbed from TMDB and TVDB. I have been having a proper look into it the last couple of days and must say if this isn’t on everyone’s device in the next 6 months and running sweet then i’ll be very shocked. There are a few minor issues i would point out, the constant errors (raise NotFoundException, ‘No matching view found for %s’ % path  –  seems to be the common one from checking log) maybe speeding up the list being compiled of addons, or caching if not possible so if one doesn’t work then you can jump straight back on and play another, if these minor changes happen then we could be in for a real game changer and no more hunting out streams all the time.

To install follow the instructions below, AT THE BOTTOM IS SOME INSTRUCTIONS ON SOME BASIC SETTINGS THAT NEED ALTERING.

As this is quite a complex add-on we will also do a guide on how to use the add-on, as it will play a great part when using Renegades guide once it is back.

First you will need to Download the meta repo zip

You can now choose to follow the below instructions or follow our own setup option and use our list of players we have verified to be working

now press the box to enter the name ive chosen mh repo

Mutant HD1500 Review

The Mutant HD1500 is a very cheap compact enigma box which comes as standard with a DVB-S2 Twin Tuner. Having tested this alongside the VU+ Solo2, Zgemma H.2S, Xarius Fusion HD SE & Venton Unibox HDE, I have found it to be a massive competitor in the enigma 2 market.

The best addition to this device over any other device that I have tested, is that its H265 compatible, differences between H264 and H265 are below.

I use Dreamplex quite alot and most of the content I stream is H.265 and the previous receivers that i’ve tried to stream have failed. This receiver has managed to stream H.265 content flawlessly.

However……… for every plus point there always has to be a negative point, What is it????

The remote control layout is brilliant, buttons are in an easy to find location unlike most other enigma remotes, which I still have to look at to find things. However…..the remote control feels cheap! Personally, I doint think it would last long if well used.

If only a manufacturer would spend a little more time designing a quality remote control. We have a quality box, why not remote???

Most enigma 2 devices operate very similar dependent on the platform its running. All the devices that I test, I test using Openatv, as I find this to be the most responsive and user friendly platform to use. 

I feel that IPTV plays a massive part of any enigma 2 device, but more so on the Mutant as the response was tremendous, far quicker and far more reliable than the other devices tried and tested.
